Learn how to build apps, troubleshoot and scale APIs with

From Zero to App Store in One Day with HTML5, jQuery, Phonegap and Usergrid

This class will teach you the essentials you need to build a mobile app for iOS or Android – as well as Windows Phone, Blackberry or a mobile browser. We'll review important aspects of mobile development and discuss using HTML5 and Javascript as a development option.

You will also learn how to leverage a mobile UI framework (jQuery Mobile), how to add, store and retrieve data with a Backend-as-a-Service (open-source Usergrid) and how to package your app for devices (and the app stores) using PhoneGap.

Upcoming Workshops

Tim

Tim Anglade, public speaker, former Computer Science lecturer, and Head of Developer Programs at Apigee. Tim has spoken about app development around the world, from OSCON to Oredev & GoGaRuco, and met with mobile app developers from Silicon Valley to Seoul. He most recently gave this training in San Francisco, San Jose, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Austin and Denver. You can find him on Twitter as @timanglade.

Greg

Greg is a Developer Evangelist at Apigee. Greg has been working in the web industry literally since the web was born – he was hand-coding HTML before the table tag was even "invented". His career has taken him around the world, from the early days of desktop publishing, to a start-up in Hamburg, Germany where he helped build one of the first HTML authoring tools, the glory days of the web at Macromedia as the Technical Product Manager for Dreamweaver, and finally his role as Principal Evangelist at Adobe prior to joining Apigee.

Matt

The sessions will be lead by Matt Dobson an Engineer and Evangelist on the Apigee Labs team. Matt constantly builds new things on every mobile platform with the latest technologies. He's most recently organized similar classes in the Bay Area, and in the Midwest. You can view his open source work on GitHub, and catch him on twitter at the handle @mdobs.

Alex

Alex has been working with web APIs for most of his career. His work has primarily focused on documentation and development of web-based services using a broad range of languages, including JavaScript, HTML, and PHP. You can find him on Twitter as @alexatapigee.

Steve

Steve has been writing content for developers for quite some time. His work has focused on ease-of-use with technologies ranging from C++ to Java to JavaScript in apps for the web, desktop, and server-side. You can find him on Twitter as @steventraut.

You’re sold? Need to convince your bosses? Well, just tell them about all the things you’ll get to learn in just half a day!

If you’re a web designer, you will learn how to design interfaces for mobile websites and mobile apps quickly, and even how to implement them on your own into working prototypes, allowing your to tackle your company’s mobile projects this year.

If you’re a front-end engineer, you will learn how to build mobile applications that look & feel like native apps, using the tools you’re already proficient with: HTML, CSS and JavaScript/jQuery.

If you’re a native app developer, you will learn another way to build mobile apps, that allows your company to quickly launch projects for multiple platforms (iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, etc.) using the same codebase!

If you’re already an HTML5 or advanced app developer, you will learn how to use a Backend-as-a-service to quickly prototype, deploy and efficiently scale your company’s mobile apps without needing a backend team to keep it running.

If you’re a backend developer, you will learn everything you need to know about the constraints of developing & launching mobile apps, what it means for backend architectures, and how large companies with tens of thousands of employees and millions of users manager their data backends for mobile apps.

In just one day, you will learn everything you need to build real apps on your own. Past example includes: store locator, employee directory, Yelp-like app, mobile intranet, HR applicant tracker, lunch ordering system, conference app, room reservation system, and many more! Spend one day in this training and you’ll have the tools to tackle any mobile project your boss or customer throws at you.
